obit: William Turanyik

William F. “Willie” Turanyik, 93, of El Campo, passed away peacefully Sept. 27, 2010 at home surrounded by his family. A longtime resident of El Campo, he was born on January 3, 1917 in Galveston to Martin and Anna Podesva Turanyik. He was a general contractor, well known for his home building and carpentry work.
He is survived by his daughters, Tillie Ann Lapierre of Naples, Fla., Willy Behre of Washington D.C. and Marilyn Turanyik of Houston; son, Michael Turanyik of El Campo; grandchildren, Brett Lapierre, Scott Lapierre, Robin Behre Adams and Cassie Behre Reilly; great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Lapierre, Claire Reilly, Gavin Reilly and Tristan Adams.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Tillie Mary Tlucek Turanyik and his sister, Julia Williams.
Visitation will begin 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1 with a Parish Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Triska Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Scott Lapierre, Brett Lapierre, Anthony Gerla, Michael Turanyik, Randy Morton and Bill Goerig. Honorary pallbear is Evelyn Turanyik.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Houston Hospice-El Campo or St. Philip’s Church or School.
