Ray Trlica, 83, Springfield, passed away in his home on Sept. 16, 2005, after a brief illness.
Ray was born in Granger, Texas, and attended Rice University and the University of Texas before serving his country as a Naval Corpman attached to the 5th Marines,and was proud to be an Iwo Jima survivor. After the war, he graduated from St. Louis University with a degree in Physical Therapy. Ray moved to Springfield in 1952 and was honored to be instrumental in establishing the Physical Therapy Department at St. John's Hospital, where he was committed to providing a high standard of patient care that continues to this day. He was also a parttime P.T. Consultant to the Missouri State Tuberculosis Hospital for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marie; daughters, Susan and her husband, Quinn Edmondson, and Nancy and her husband, Dennis Hill; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A longtime member of Schweitzer United Methodist Church, Ray's faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ was reflected in his daily words and actions. Memorial Services will be at Schweitzer United Methodist Church on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2005, at 2 p.m., with a reception immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Downs Syndrome Association of San Antonio at 4702 West Ave., Suite 6, San Antonio, TX 78213 or National Kidney Foundation of Southeast Texas, 2400 Augusta, Suite 252, Houston, TX 77057.
