Louis P. Tybor 95, of Fredericksburg, TX passed away Feb. 17, 2012 in Bandera, TX. He was born March 26, 1916 to Wallace P. and Brunia Tybor in the Houston Heights where he grew up. He attended and graduated from St. Thomas High School where he played football and earned the name “Crazy Legs” Tybor. Afterward he began a career in the banking business, starting out as a "runner" at San Jacinto Trust Co. then eventually achieving the position of Executive VP Of Loans at Bank Of The Southwest. With an infallible memory, a keen sense of good business and many sound loan decisions to local entrepreneurs and startups, Louis helped to build the commerce of the boom town known as Houston.
In 1937 he married his lovely Rita Marie Nesbit and together they built a life and a family anchored in their love and faith. They filled their 69 years together creating a loving and happy home for their five children, taking lead roles in parish activities at St. Rose Of Lima then St. Cecilia’s. They extended their love by hosting foreign students - Beatrice, Ute, and Paulo. Louis was a member of Knights Of Columbus, worked in ticket sales for UofH sporting events, enjoyed being Mr. Fixit, loved music, was a superb dancer, enjoyed travelling, never met a stranger, and playing cards with family was his idea of a good time. Louis retired in 1981. He and Rita moved to Fredericksburg where he became active in the St. Vincent de Paul Society running the thrift shop there. He took pride in his service to “St. Vinnies” and his efforts during that time enabled the purchase of land and construction of the thrift shop building that is in use today.
He is preceded in death by his lovely Rita, his parents, sisters Julia Williams and Celia Tybor, brothers Leon, Joe, Felix, Gene, Philip, and Clarence, daughter Zeta Helene, granddaughter Hope and grandson Eban Doss.
He will be missed by those he leaves behind: son Paul Tybor (Brigid), daughters Linda Cook (Van), Susan Goodwin (Roy), Giselle Doss (Parr), and Thecla Tybor, grandchildren Selena (Glenn), Roy IV (Elvia), Dudley (Cheryl), Dylan (Emma), Tybor (Joy), Marika (Doug), Sadie (Koen), Skyla (John) and great grandchildren Ashton, Grayson, Jayce, Haverly, Chloe, Van, Analise, Tucker, Finn, Tilley, Tessa, Giselle, and the newest little one not yet arrived.
The body will lie in state in the Chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home until 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday February 21st with a Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating.
Entombment of Cremains will be held at a later date in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. Rosary services will be held on Monday February 20th at 6:00 p.m. in the Schaetter Funeral Home.
