obit: Alice Chovanec Tlucek
Alice Tlucek, age 99 of El Campo and formerly of Edna, passed away on Jan. 30, 2011.
She was born on April 8, 1911 in Wallis to the late Rudolph and Lydia Shula Chovanec. She graduated from El Campo High School and attended Southwest Texas State University at San Marcos. She taught school for 12 years in the El Campo vicinity, taught CCD classes and had served as an organist at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. Alice married the Victor Tlucek in 1939, and the family moved to Edna in 1947. She was a member of St. Agnes Parish in Edna, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, and the K.J.Z.T.
She is survived by daughters, Nancy and husband George Natsis of Edna; Grace McCown and husband Josh of El Campo; three grandchildren, Chip and Sarah Natsis of Plano, Cari and Mark Press of Bend, Oregon, and Holly McGown of El Campo; great-grandchildren, Carly Natsis of Greensboro, North Carolina and Milo and Silas Press of Bend, Oregon, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Victor in 1988; her parents; brother Albert Chovanec; sister Julie Cornelius, and infant sister, Lydia Chovanec.
Vistitation will begin on Thursday at noon. A rosary will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, February 4, 2001 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in El Campo. A celebration of her life will follow at 2pm with Co-celebrants Rev. Paul Chovanec of Houston and Rev. Gary Janak of El Campo. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Memorial Park in El Campo.
