William Desmond Sokol Jr., 58, of Katy, Texas, passed away in Conroe, Texas on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009. Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. to funeral time today at Cashner Colonial Chapel. Service will be 2 p.m. today at the chapel, with interment to follow in Garden Park Cemetery.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Sokol of Katy; one son, Jeremy Sokol and wife, Victoria and son, Adam Sokol, all of Houston; his mother, Carolyn Sokol of New Orleans; three sisters, Janet Boudreaux and husband, Mike, of New Orleans, Anne Balduf and husband, Paul, of Dothan, Ala., and Mary Cain and husband, Tip, of Conroe, Texas; one brother, Brian Sokol of Lafayette; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was born Aug. 8, 1951 in New Orleans. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and member of the Knights of Columbus, Vice President of the Houma Oilman's Sporting Clays Invitational and numerous other civic charities.
