William Eugene Svrcek, 81, beloved husband, stepfather, step-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, born Monday, May 25, 1930 in Byersville, Texas to Charlie J. Svrcek & Mathilda (Malish) Svrcek; went to be with the Lord Monday, December 26, 2011 in Houston, Texas with his loving family by his side.

William or better known as “Bill” by his family and friends has been a resident of the Crosby area for over sixty-one years. Originally of Taylor, Texas Bill served his country honorably and proudly in the United States Marine Corp; enlisting at age sixteen with a little help from his father. Bill served his duty to his country in Guam for two years; after being released in 1950 Bill moved to Crosby to start his own business and open an automotive garage and become an automotive mechanic. Bill spent many summers as a boy visiting his older brother Leo at his garage here in Crosby helping him and learning his trade; continuing the legacy every summer with his young nephews by having them come to his shop to learn the trade.

Bill enjoyed many things in his free time such as fishing especially deep sea fishing and loud cars; what Bill truly loved were the times he shared with this family and friends that he cared about so dearly. Fond memories will always be cherished of Bill’s mechanical mind and how he treated every customer equally as well as so many other precious memories as he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Bill is preceded in death by his loving parents, Charlie & Mathilda Svrcek; dear siblings, Leontine Havelka, Leo Svrcek, Annie Naivar, Angeline Tannehill and Eugene Svrcek.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of thirty-eight years, Phyllis Svrcek; stepsons, Glenn Cowan & wife Zina and John Cowan; step-grandchildren, Jay Cowan, Kaitlyn Cowan, Geoffrey Cowan, Grant Cowan and Elizabeth Cowan; brother, Charlie D. Svrcek Sr.; sister, Lillie Mae Kinser and numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
