      Viola Sevcik, 88, of Cameron and formerly of Buckholts died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012 in a Cameron nursing center.  Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church with Rev. Walter Matus officiating. Burial will follow in the Old Marak Catholic Cemetery.  Rosary will be recited 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home in Cameron.

       

      Mrs. Sevcik was born Nov. 20, 1924 in Marak to Joseph and Julia (Pustejovsky) Bartek. She was a graduate of C.H. Yoe High School. She married Joe Sevcik on May 20, 1947 and he preceded her in death in 1999.

       

      She had worked for Culpeppers and Farmers Gin. She had served as a Democratic election judge for many years, a member of KJZT, a member of SPJST, a past member of the Buckholts Betterment Association and a life long member of Ss Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church.

       

      She is also preceded in death by her sister Cornelia Tomek.

       

      Survivors include daughters, Linda Knapek and husband George of Taylor, Cecilia Stuchly and husband Bernard of Coupland; sisters, Margie Vaculin of Cameron, JoAnn Zarosky of Temple; six grandchildren, Jacqueline Danek and husband John, George Michael Knapek and wife Trina, Joe Stuchly and wife Jennifer, Edward Knapek and fiancé Kate Crowley, Erica Waiser and husband Craig, Cynthia Knapek; seven great grandchildren, Tyler Stuchly, Ethan Waiser, Jamie, John, and Jenna Danek, George Andrew Knapek and Jake Stuchly.

       

      Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.
