obit: Samuel T. "Duke" Slavich
Samuel T. "Duke" Slavich went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012.
Service: 3 p.m. Wednesday in Laurel Land Chapel of Chimes.
Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Duke was born March 10, 1921, in Woodlawn, Pa., to Stevan and Sophia Slavich. Shortly after birth, he moved with his family to Shawnee, Okla. Duke graduated from Shawnee High School in 1939 where he excelled in athletics, especially football. In 1939 he joined the Air Force, serving his country with honor for 20 years and achieving the rank of master sargeant. After retiring from the Air Force on May 31, 1960, Duke took a job in the chemistry department at TCU as a purchasing agent. He remained at TCU until retiring Sept. 1, 1988. During his time working at TCU, Duke became an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with family and friends.
Duke was preceded in death by his wife, Greh; his parents; two brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors: Brother, John R. "Jack" Slavich; special friends, Bob Haubolt and Teresa Roundtree; and many other loving family members and friends.
