obit: Sister Emily Bolcerek
Sister Emily Bolcerek, age 92, a Sister of Divine Providence, entered eternal life on January 8, 2013. She was the eldest of nine children born to Peter and Mary Skweres Bolcerek. She was born on September 18, 1920 and grew up in Brenham, Texas. She answered God's call to become a Sister of Divine Providence and made her first profession on June 22, 1941 at age 21. Devoting her ministry to sewing and child care, Sister Emily spent 18 years at Our Lady of the Lake Convent where she was one of the "CDP Tailors" making the Sisters' habits and tailoring them to fit each Sister. Sister Emily ministered as a teacher's aide in Alexandria, Louisiana where she cared for small children. Later, she was a teacher's aide in Houston, Texas. She ministered in child care and food service at Brookwoods Montessori School in Houston. Her greatest joy was brought by nurturing the infants from 6 weeks to 6 months at Brookwoods. Sister Emily retired from the Montessori School in 2002. Since then she enjoyed doing community service at Our Lady of the Lake Convent Center, mainly creating arts and crafts in Feltin Center.
In addition to the CDP community, she is survived by her sisters, Louise Busa and Angeline Heinrich (Charles); her brother, Edwin Bolcerek (Emily), sister-in-law, Albina Bolcerek, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Mary Skweres Bolcerek; her sister Gertrude and brother-in-law, Al Lesenski; her brothers, Steve, Theodore, Julian, and Joseph Bolcerek.
The Rosary is Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. and the Wake is at 6:00 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be Friday, January 11, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. All services will be in Annunciation Chapel at Our Lady of the Lake Convent Center.
