obit: Margaret "Margie" Siebert Stepan
In Memory of
June 22, 1921 - November 16, 2010
In the late evening of November 16, 2010, while being comforted by several of her loved ones, Margie Stepan, left our arms for those of her Lord, her husband of 52 years, Joe Stepan, and all those she knew and loved who had preceded her.
Margie was born on June 22, 1921 in Manchaca, Texas to Joe Gehart Siebert and Ara Wilson Siebert. She was a graduate of Buda High School and continued her education at Nixon Clay Business College, majoring in accounting. She worked for Southern Union Gas Company for 37 years. While there, she sponsored the Junior Achievement program for several years.
On October 9, 1947, she married Joe Robert Stepan and shared 52 fabulous years with him before his passing in 1999. Their life together was punctuated by a complete devotion of one another, fun, happiness, and the caring of and for others.
She and Joe shared their home with family and friends for any and all occasions. Margie was a great cook and they were wonderful hosts, making every gathering they had memorable for all of those who attended.
Margie was a big sports fan who loved professional football and basketball but her blood ran orange. Longhorn football, basketball and baseball filled their lives with fun and friends whether it be a trip to the Texas-OU game in Dallas or just a listening party for a game that was too far away to attend.
But Margie was not just filled with this exuberance for sports, it was how she lived her life- from tending to the beautiful gardens she and Joe created, to the fullness with which she embraced her Faith.
Along with her grace and aplomb, we will miss her many smiles and the excitement she had for everything she did.
She was preceeded in death by brothers, Fred Will Siebert and Joe Tom Siebert; brothers and sisters in law, John Lee, George and Frances Stepan, Rosalee and Steve Kavinski, Olga Vrba Bill Vrba, Mary and Eddie Vrba, Doris Siebert and Lennie Siebert; nephews, Dan Vrba, Craig Kavinski and Don Vrba; nieces Alice Mayfield, Mary Kemp, Melanie Carter Stepan, Kimberly Hibbs Stepan.
Margie is survivied by numerous brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews, Rod and Sherri Stepan, Edythe Denise and Jim Penland, John Ed and Debra Stepan, Ramsey and Eva Farley, Wayne Vrba, Pat and Cathy Vrba, Bill Mayfield, Dorene and Ernie Prem, Sandy Vrba, Sally Vrba, Karen Kavenski, Carol Kavinski Lynch, David Carter, Dale Hibbs, Carol Ferguson, Billy and Midge Siebert, June Lee, Beverly and John Garza, Janet Price and Linda Larson, Tara Russell, Bob Hernandez; her loving god children Addy and Isabella Hernandez; and many great nieces and nephews.
