      Henry Joseph Kuntschik, 70, of La Grange, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas.

       

      Henry was born in Gonzales, Texas on January 19, 1942, the son of Otto and Olga (Tuch) Kuntschik. He married Verlene Hrachovy on October 15, 1966 at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn.  Henry served his country in the Army National Guard. He worked as a Plant Operator for LCRA and retired in 2004 with 19 years of service.

       

      Henry was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, K.J.T., American Legion, Independent Cattlemen’s Association, and the Vietnam Veterans Association.

       

      He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Verlene; two sons: Aaron Kuntschik and wife, Molly, of Austin, Alan Kuntschik and wife, Nicole (Hall), of Corpus Christi; three sisters: Jeannine Hoopingarner and husband, Sonny, of Temple; twin sister, Christine Cartright of Bastrop, Carol Sweeney and husband, Ken, of Friendswood; step mother-in-law, Carrie Hrachovy of La Grange; sister-in-law, Marian Chamrad and husband, Charles, of Hostyn; brother-in-law, David Hrachovy and wife, Lucy, of Houston; four grandchildren: Devin, Cody, Wesley and Kailey Kuntschik, three step grandchildren: Jack, Jerod and Drew Thornton; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

       

      He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Don Cartright; in-laws, Jerome and Martha Hrachovy.

       

      Visitation will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in La Grange (Hostyn). A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the church.   Funeral Services will be held at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in La Grange (Hostyn), Texas, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2012. Burial will follow at the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.

       

      In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, P. O. Box 301407, Houston, TX 77230-1407, Wounded Warrior Project, 12672 Silicon Dr., Ste. 105, San Antonio, TX 78249, Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 936 FM 2436, La Grange, TX 78945, or a charity of one’s choice.
