      Julius Leo (Mr. Curly) Sobotik

       

      Julius Leo (Mr. Curly) Sobotik, 80, of Clute, Texas passed away Thursday, March 18, 2010 at his home.

       

      He was born December 31, 1929 in Hallettsville to Julius Joseph and Bessie Veronica Sobotik. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He came to the area in 1942 and went to work at Freeport Sulphur Company and went to work for Brazosport Plumbing and Heating for around 15 years. Next he joined Pipefitters Local 211 and retired in 1990 after 45 years of service. Mr. Curly enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren, fishing, gardening, telling stories and he never met a stranger.

       

      He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Benjamin Franklin Sylvester Sobotik.

       

      He is survived by his wife of 57 years and four months, Gladys Sobotik; four children, Victor Lee Sobotik and wife Jan of Spring; Larry Wayne Sobotik and wife Sybil of Brazoria; Kathy Sue Fox and husband Ricky of West Columbia; James Edward Sobotik and wife Yvonne of West Columbia; nine grandchildren, Erick Burke and wife Kate, Matthew Sobotik and wife Lauryn, Jacob Sobotik and wife Casey, Joseph Sobotik and fiancee Stephanie; Chad Fox and wife Heather, Jake Fox and Wesley Whitley and wife Kim, Amy Sobotik and fiance Eric and Kassie Sobotik; four great grandchildren, Kyndall Sobotik, Jessica and Emma Whitley and Summer Strother; two sisters, Barbara Choate and husband Pete of Richwood, Betty Richards and husband Billy Paul of Lake Jackson; sisters-in-law, Joyce Robertson and husband Arnold of Angleton, Eunice Barton of Angleton; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

       

      The family will receive friends 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Lakewood Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Lakewood Chapel with Monsignor Leo Wleczyk officiating. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Michaels Catholic Church in Lake Jackson. Arrangements by the Turner family at Lakewood Chapel
