      Louis Joseph Pucek Jr. passed from this life Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012. He passed peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. Service: A memorial celebration of Lou's life was held Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Dancing River Assisted Living in Grapevine. Pastor Marti Soper of Greenland Hills United Methodist Church in Dallas officiated. Military burial was held Thursday, Dec. 6, in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with Father Jonathan McElhone of Good Shepherd Catholic Community in Colleyville officiating.

       

      Lou was born July 4, 1921, in Barberton, Ohio. He graduated from Norton High School in Akron, Ohio, in 1938. He proudly served his country as a parachute rigger in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1961. He was awarded the African European Middle Eastern Medal, American Area Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. He then served in the United States Navy Fleet Reserves from 1961 to 1967 at the U.S. Naval Air Station, Akron, Ohio; USNAS, Dallas; and USNAS Twin Cities, Minneapolis, Minn. Upon completion of his naval career, he spent 20 years with Bell Helicopter Textron as a master upholsterer. Lou will be remembered for his cheerful personality and positive outlook on life. He showed us how to live in the moment and be content.

       

      The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Dancing River for making the last year of Lou's earthly life so beautiful and joyful. Hallelujah!

       

      He was predeceased by his precious wife of 62 years, Betty Jane Whitcomb Pucek.

       

      Survivors: His children, Linda Marie Gautney and husband, Jim Gautney, Kathleen Whitney and partner, Lorie Makeham, David Charles Pucek and partner, Greg Farnsworth, and Kimberly Jean Cerney and husband, Eric Cerney; grandchildren, Bradley James Gautney and wife, Monica Gautney, Christy Braddock and husband, Scott Braddock, Tommy and Jim Cerney and seven other grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
