Elsie J. Skrivanek
Elsie J. Skrivanek, age 92 of Stanton, died Saturday December 3, 2011 of natural causes at her home. She was born February 17, 1919 in Ennis, TX the daughter of Joe and Mary (Dvorak) Prachyl. She attended school in Bon Homme County, South Dakota where she graduated from the 8th grade in 1933. In 1934 her family moved to Boyce, Texas where they farmed. On August 12, 1941 she married Alvin B. Skrivanek at St. John's Church in Ennis, TX. They farmed in Crisp, TX until Alvin was drafted into the Army on August 9, 1942. Elsie worked at New Berry's 5 & 10 Store in Las Vegas, New Mexico, where Alvin was stationed, until his deployment overseas. At that time she moved back to Texas and become employed at Sears & Roebuck Mail Order in Dallas. Upon Alvin's honorable discharge from military service in 1946 they moved to Stanton, Nebraska where they farmed until 1956. They returned to Ennis, Texas where they farmed until 1964 when they once more made Stanton, Nebraska their home. They farmed until 1985 when the retired. Elsie was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Stanton, Altar Society and the V.F.W. Post #3602 Ladies Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children A.J. and Kathy Skrivanek of Stanton, NE; Eileen and John Hilliges of Stanton, NE; 4 Grandchildren Jennifer and Waylon Campbell of Atkinson, NE; Cory Skrivanek of Stanton, NE; Barbara Krei of Allendale, MI; Elizabeth and Adam Sumii of Quincy, IL; 2 Great Grandchildren, Rylie Krueger of Norfolk, NE and Shaylee Campbell of Atkinson, NE; 2 Sisters Lillian and Robert Dahlkoetter of Norfolk, NE; Irene and Keith Mewis of Stanton, NE; 1 Brother Emil Prachyl of Mabank, TX; 4 Sister-in-laws, Elizabeth and Morris Beton of Sachse, TX; Agnes and Edd Prachyl of Richardson, TX; Josephine and Raymond Prachyl of Rowlett TX; Alice and John Skrivanek of Ennis, TX; 1 Brother-In-Law Rudy Rezac of David City, NE; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elsie is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, of 67 years in 2008, her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3-8 P.M. with a Rosary at 7:30 P.M. all at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Stanton under the direction of Shultz-Vogel-Johnson Mortuary in Stanton. Graveside services will be at Stanton Cemetery in Stanton, NE on Wed. Dec. 7 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Jerry Connealy officiating. Pallbearers will be Dan Brandl, Robert Brandl, Don Carroll, Loren Carroll, Dale Hekrdle and Lowell Schroeder. Honorary pallbearers will be Brett Wilke, Don Voelker, Chuck Kethcart, Melvon Vollbrecht, Ron Brown and Don Vollbrecht.
