Christine Crumm Struzick, 84, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in Corpus Christi. She was born on March 28, 1928 in Atlanta, Georgia to George and Edna Crumm but was raised in Kansas City, Missouri, where she met her husband-to-be, Leonard Struzick, at age seven. Leonard's tour of Navy duty ended in Corpus Christi and he wanted to settle here. Chris had completed her nurses training from Trinity Lutheran Hospital in Kansas City so they married and resided in Corpus Christi for 65 years. Chris worked at Ghormley Hospital, the Corpus Christi Health Department, CCISD and the State School, all while raising five children. In her 'spare' time, she loved to sew clothing for her children. She also volunteered at Driscoll Children's Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Struzick; her parents; one brother, Jimmy Crumm and one sister, Helen Watkins.
Chris is survived by her five children: Lynn Coffin (James) of Mathis, Texas; Mikki Cooper (Gary) of Italy, Texas; Gary Struzick, (Kay) of Houston; Jan Temperton (Allan) of Fredericksburg, Texas and Sherri Goller (Cory) of Corpus Christi: 12 Grandchildren: Courtney Hernandez, Jason Coffin (Heather), Kelley Edwards, Brittany Cooper (Alessandro), Danny Struzick (Lauren), Kyle Struzick (Stephanie), Bobby Struzick, Hunter Temperton, Houston Temperton, C.J. Goller, Zach Goller and Lacy Goller; seven Great-Grandchildren: Holly Hernandez, Dylan Coffin, Thomas Rymer, Camden Rymer, Havin Maris, Baby E. Coffin and Molly Struzick; three siblings: Dorothy Reffitt, Joyce Coonce and Stacy Crumm.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 20, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., at Seaside Memorial Park.
The funeral will be held at 12 Noon Monday, May 21, 2012 at Seaside.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Lukes United Methodist Church, Corpus Christi, or to Camp Quality Cancer Camp Northwest Missouri.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to their extended family and friends for their many prayers and loving support, and to Dr. Lorenzo Martin, Dr. Delia Quisenberry, Doctor's Regional Hospital, National Nursing and Rehab, Lincare and to Trinity Towers Hospice.
