He attended Sherwood Elementary, Westchester Junior High and graduated from Westchester Senior High in 1980. He worked in the printing business and was a former employee of Brinson Printing, First Baptist Church of Houston, American General, AIG, and WorkflowOne. He lived his life with love, humor and a warmth that touched all who knew him. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend. He was greatly loved and is grievously missed.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 9 ½ years, Rachel Thomas Mikula; father, L.J. ("Joe") Mikula; father- and mother-in-law, Henry and Connie Thomas; sons, Daniel Paul Mikula, Michael Ryan Mikula, and Matthew Benjamin Mikula; step-sons, Austin Henry Thompson, Tyler James Thompson, and Bryan Phillip Thompson; sister, Jo Ann Nevitt and her husband Rod; brother, David Anthony Mikula and his wife Pilar; brother, Randy William Mikula and his wife Jolee; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will gather with friends at a visitation at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 10688 Shadow Wood Dr., Houston, Texas on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at 5:00 p.m., followed by a vigil service at 6:30 p.m. The next morning, Wednesday, November 21, 2012, family and friends will gather at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home, 2800 North Travis Avenue, Cameron, Texas at 9:30 a.m. All will leave from the funeral home in procession to Sts. Cyril and Methodius Church, in Marak, Texas, for the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. with the Christian Rite of Committal following immediately thereafter at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, or Catholic Charities.
