obit: Evelyn Hanson Nohavitza
Evelyn Hanson Nohavitza, a long time resident of El Campo, died November 20, 2012 at the age of 80. She was born on December 12, 1931 in Ganado, Texas, to Walter and Vivian Ward Hanson. After Evelyn graduated from Louise High School in 1949, she worked as a professional photographer for Connie's Studio for 20 years. When her youngest son started school, she went to work at Franka's Grocery. Evelyn later purchased the Gazebo Flower Shop and ran it for 22 years. She supported all Veteran programs, especially Wounded Warriors, and was active in her bridge club.
She is survived by her sons Charles Nohavitza and wife Jackie of Houston, Ward Nohavitza and wife Norma of Pleasanton, step-daughter Becky Stanley of Friendswood, grandchildren Sonny, Spencer and Saige Nohavitza; Luke, Lyndi and Carly Byers; and David and Matthew Stanley , sister Doris and brother-in-law Bill Nolen of El Campo.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband George Nohavitza, and brothers Walter "Sonny" Hanson and John A. Hanson.
Visitation will begin at 10 am on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 followed by a funeral service at 2 pm at Triska Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Swedish Lutheran Cemetery in El Campo.
Pallbearers are Scott Nolen, David Nolen, Sonny Nohavitza, Todd Ware, Grant Ware and Stephen Ward.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association or Wounded Warriors.
