      In Memory of

      Beatrice Theresa Socha

      February 20, 1922 - May 22, 2012

Beatrice Schwartz Socha, age 90, passed away May 22, 2012. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Friday May 25, 2012 at Johnson's Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Beatrice was born on February 20, 1922 in Ballinger, Texas to Ernest and Ida Schwartz. At the age of 3 her family moved to Wall, Texas to their new farm. She was the oldest of nine children and helped cook their meals, take care of her younger siblings, and chopped many rows of cotton.

Beatrice (Bea) married Laddie Socha on July 12, 1943 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall, Texas. While Laddie served in Europe, she worked in various jobs supporting the war effort. When her husband started Laddie's Electric Company, she helped with the bookwork. She spent the majority of her time raising her four children. Bea, or 'Snooks' as Laddie affectionately called her, was a great cook. If company dropped by she could whip up a meal in minutes. She loved the outdoors and had beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. She had a green thumb and her home was surrounded by beautiful foliage. She was a huge Dallas Cowboy fan and loved watching the games.

Bea and Laddie traveled extensively, visited 40 states, and toured Europe. They made two trips to Czechoslovakia and Germany to see their ancestral home and visit relatives. They would hop in the car and take short trips. Every year they loved to go on the Bluebonnet trail and view all the beautiful flowers. They didn't miss a family reunion and afterwards, they would extend the vacation to the Texas coast or San Antonio.

Bea enjoyed polka dancing and they would dance with local groups and travel to polka dances in other cities. Bea loved to play dominoes and looked forward to playing every week. She played with her church group until she broke her hip two months ago. Bea had many hobbies such as bird watching, sewing and flower arranging. Bea was a member of Holy Angels Church, Catholic Daughters of America, past member of the Women's Society and Altar Society.

Beatrice was preceded in death by Laddie, her loving husband of 62 years, brother Walter Schwartz, brothers-in-law Victor Matthiesen, Clyde Williams, Charlie Barta, Alphons Holubec, sisters-in -law Ruby Schwartz, Lillian Holubec and Dorothy Gillespie and several nieces and nephews.
