obit: Alice Laura Siegel
AUSTIN, Texas.-- Relatives and friends in the city of her adoption will pay final tributes to Mrs. Alice Laura Siegel, widow of the late Dr. Ernest M. Siegel, eminent czech engineer and educator, in funeral services here Friday morning.
Mrs Siegel, 60, resident of Austin since 1939, died at her home.
She was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, and was a graduate of St. Charles university in Prague, the oldest university on the European continent.
In 1937, Dr. Siegel was honored as a guest instructor in Massachuetts Institute of Technmology. Hitler's invasion of czechoslovakia during World War II closed their home to them in Prague and the Siegels came to Austin and the University of Texas where he professor of electrical engineering until his death in 1942.
Mrs. Siegel is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Carl Elmquist, whose husband is professor of English at Texas A&M College.
