Funeral services for Albin J. Pilcik, 95, of East Bernard were held on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church in East Bernard with Rev. Don Ruppert celebrating the funeral mass and rite of committal. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Lodie Pilcik Jr., Dennis Overgoner, George Macha, Johnnie Pavlicek, Edward Kanak Jr. and James Losack.
Mr. Pilcik was born to Frank and Rosie Pilcik on Nov. 1, 1911, in Bernard Prairie in Wharton County and died on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 in Richmond.
He was the second born of eight children. Mr. Pilcik moved at age one with his family to East Bernard, attended school at West End Tavener and at a early age worked on the farm with his family. On Nov. 23, 1937, he married Olga Kanak at Holy Cross Church by Msgr. Kunz. They set up house on the farm that he was so proud of, where they worked hard raising cattle and chickens and farmed cotton, milo, corn and hay.
He served on the Holy Cross Parish Council for four years as chairman and four years as trustee; was KJT president for 10 years and recently received a 75-year membership pin; member of Farmers Coop for 30 years as director and vice-president; and RVOS member having served president and vice-president.
He is survived by his brother, Lodie and his wife Evelyn of East Bernard and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Pilcik was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife of 62 years, Olga Kanak Pilcik; brothers, Rudolph, Frank and Raymond; sisters, Julie Pilcik, Olga Macha and Rosie Wasicek.
