EULA LEE SAUNDERS ROSENAUER, 88, of Pearsall passed away Thursday, April 2, 2009 in Pearsall.

She was born June 2, 1920 in Charlotte, TX to William and Susie Thompson Saunders. Her father died when she was twelve, and as her mother was very ill at that time, she helped to keep house and care for her brothers. As a young woman she could ride horses, shoot a gun and rope cows. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior, and was baptized in a creek. She loved driving a car, and visiting friends and family around the state. She married Charles Edward Rosenauer on September 5, 1942 during WWII in Wichita Falls. When he was transferred, she went to Jackson, MS to help care for Edgar and Ozella Saunders' daughter Veda during the birth of Ozella's son Clifford. A bond grew between her and Veda that continued until her death. Edward was sent to the European Theater, and was a crew chief on a B-17 bomber. While he was gone, she gave birth to their first child, Linda. About a month later, he was shot down over Austria and was listed as MIA. She later learned that he was a POW, and was in Statag 17 in Krem, Austria. She lived with her family and raised their child not knowing if she would ever see him again. A year later he was liberated and returned home. They settled in Pearsall and began to raise their family. Their second child, Charles William was born, and then came Brenda and then Susan. She was a wonderful cook, and loved and cared for her husband and children. A true homemaker, she was always there for her children, trying to teach them right from wrong, and even used a paddle to get the point across. She raised them to believe in God, and all four of them were baptized in the First Baptist Church of Pearsall. She always encouraged them to do their best, and to be the best that they could be.

Her parents; three brothers, Lloyd, Lenis and Edgar Saunders; sister-in-law Mattie Franklin Saunders; son-in-law Billy G. Rowan; and two nephews, Lloyd E. Saunders, Jr. and Michael Saunders, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles Edward (Eddie) Rosenauer of Pearsall; children Bill and Denice of Riviera; Linda and Jim Sweet of Rockport; Brenda Rowan of Pearsall; and Susan and Leonard Brown of Pearsall; grandchildren Brandon T. Brown, Monica L. Brown, and Desiree and Robert Halsor.

Services are scheduled for 2:00PM Monday, April 6, 2009 in the First Baptist Church of Pearsall. Interment will follow in the Pearsall Cemetery. For those desiring to honor her life through memorials, the family has asked that they be given to the 1st Baptist Church, Frio Lodge #399, AF&AM, Judy's Ark, all in Pearsall. Arrangements under the direction of the HURLEY FUNERAL HOME, 608 East Trinity, Pearsall TX 78061(830) 334-3361
