Olga Marie “Butch” Novotny, age 88, of Houston, formerly of Abbott, passed away peacefully Saturday evening, December 10, 2011 in Houston.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West.

Mrs. Novotny was born August 10, 1923 near West, the daughter of Henry F. and Lena (Cinek) Dworacek. She attended the Cottonwood School. On May 10, 1941 she was united in marriage to Rudolf Novotny in West. He preceded her in death on November 2, 1968. Olga held many jobs including working on the family’s cotton farm, in a sewing room, twine mill, carpet plant, and lastly, in the cafeteria for the Abbott Independent School District. Like many strong women of this era, she worked hard, was an excellent cook, loved her family, and provided for herself independently. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott. She was also a member of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 6 for over 60 years and the R.V.O.S. Lodge. She lived on Elm Street in Abbott for over 43 years.

Survivors include a son, Rudolf Novotny and his wife Stella of Montgomery; two daughters, Doris Novotny of Garland and Jane Prentiss of Houston; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to SPCA.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all the caregivers at the Spring Branch Care Home in Houston during the past two years and to the Odyssey Hospice of Houston.
