      Mary Elizabeth Mollenkopf Schrank passed away after a short battle with pancreatic cancer on Friday, March 11, 2011, in Pleasanton, TX. 

       

      Mary was born April 18, 1918 in Cisco, TX, the daughter of Fred and Judy (Krokaska) Mollenkopf.  She married Milton W. Schrank on March 14, 1936 in Seguin, TX.  Milton passed away April 5, 1980.  Mary retired in 1980 after working for many years at Earl's Bakery in Pleasanton.  While her children attended school in Pleasanton she worked in the school caferteria.  In 1956 due to a job change for Milton the family moved to McAllen and lived there for 10 years.  Mary enjoyed being a waitress during those years.  Milton's health declined and he and Mary returned to Pleasanton. 

       

      Mary was an active member of the Catholic Daughters Court 1526 and St. Andrew's United Seniors.  She had the title of "pie lady" for her delicious pies.  She enjoyed playing "chicken foot" dominoes, was a avid reader and enjoyed word search puzzles.  She loved being outdoors and her yard was always full of beautiful plants and other flowers that she enjoyed showing and sharing with her visitors.  A favorite past time was feeding and watching the many humming birds at her feeders.  She was well known for her homemade cinnamon rolls, her fig preserves and mustang grape jelly.  Mary looked forward to yearly getherings with her daughters, where they enjoyed visiting and playing "chicken foot" dominoes.  She enjoyed gardening with her son-in-law Evan and visiting the deer lease.  She also taught her grandson Jeff to make her "tasty sweet rice."  Mary's last days were spent at her home under the loving care of her daughters and son-in-laws.  She referred to Eugene as her "special helper".

       

      Mary was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother Minnie; husband Milton; son Wilburn Lee; sibilings: Velma Hickey, Edna Bielke, Dorthy Peterman, Ruben, Eugene, and A.J. Mollenkopf, also preceding in death was son-in-law Guy Russell. 

       

      She is survived by daughters, Mary Ann (Evan) Barta, Ethelene (Henry) Barta, Nancy Russell, Judy ( John) Jarzombek and Shirley (Eugene) Bohanan.  Her twelve grandchildren are Valerie Barta, Jeanne Pendergass, Jeff  Barta, Karen Porter, John Milton Jarzombek, Shelley Rowell, Mike Barta, James Jarzombek, Jon Russell, Melanie Roselius, Justin Jarzombek, Julie Knowles and their families consisitng of 22 great grandchildren and 2 great great granddaughters, Emily Pendergrass and Liliana Porter.  Also surviving her are sibilings Katheryn Drake, Rose Lee Simpson, Louise Dahlke, Fred, Jr., Jimmie, Douglas Mollenkopf and their families; sister-in-law Irene Schrank Koepsel and her daughter Janet (Dennis) Person, brother-in-law Nelson (Ada) Schrank and several nieces and nephews also survived her.  She also leaves her dear friend and neighbor Tina Miller.   

       

      Visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home, 118 West Oaklawn Rd., Pleasanton, TX  from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM , Tuesday, March 15, 2011.  Funeral service will be at St. Andrew Catholic Church  at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, March 16, 2011. Interment will be at St. Andrew #2, Pleasanton, TX. Memorials may be made in her name to the St. Andrews Prayer Garden Fund.  Donation should be sent to St. Andrew Catholic Church, Pleasanton, TX 78064.  Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and great grandsons as honorary pallbearers.
