      Patsy Ann Byrns Blazek, 64, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2012 in Ennis, Texas.

      Patsy was born on January 14, 1948 in Syracuse, NY to Major Glen A. Byrns USAF Retired and Helen “Buddy” (Blim) Byrns. Patsy grew up an Air Force Brat, living in numerous locations across the United States and in Japan. In 1966, Patsy graduated from Kubasaki High School on the Island of Okinawa, Japan. Patsy attended Gulf Coast Community College in Panama City, Florida. She also graduated with honors from the Hermann Hospital School of Vocational Nursing in Houston, Texas. On November 23, 1985 she married Jimmy Blazek in Missouri City, Texas. After their marriage they lived in Austin, Texas, Van Buren, Arkansas and moved to Ennis in 1993.

      Patsy worked in Pediatrics, Orthopedics and as a School Nurse for Ennis ISD for the last eighteen years. She also worked in a clerical position for Leggett and Platt, Inc. for seven years. Patsy retired in May of 2011. Patsy was a member of St. John Catholic Church.

      She is survived by her husband of twenty seven years, Jimmy Blazek of Ennis; sons: Shawn Ryan Smith and his wife, Thelma of Katy, Texas and Christopher Andrew Smith and his wife, Cristina of Katy, Texas; nine grandchildren: Amanda, Alyssa, Ashley, Ava, Mallory, Ethan, Griffin, Avery and Brady all of Katy, Texas and one brother, Col. William G. Byrns USAF Retired and his wife, Joanne of Fleming Island (Jacksonville), Florida.

      She was preceded in death by her parents Major Glen A. Byrns USAF Retired and Helen “Buddy” (Blim) Byrns.

      Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 from 6 until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis with Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the St. John Catholic Church of Ennis, Texas.

      Pallbearers will be Ethan Smith, Scott Byrns, Robert Pedro, Jeff Hoch, Brent Vrla and Ryan McCabe. Honorary Pallbearers will be Amanda Smith and Mallory Smith. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.

      In lieu of flowers to honor Patsy’s endless dedication to the Nursing Profession the family has established the “Patsy Blazek Nurse Scholarship Fund” to help those from EISD who wish to pursue a Nursing Career.
