Chester George Kopecki Sr. , lifelong resident of Kosciusko, Texas, entered eternal rest Friday, June 3, 2011, at 5:25 P.M., at Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville, at the age of 87 years.
Chester was born June 3, 1924, in Kosciusko, the son of Joseph Kopecki and Sofia Lyssy Kopecki. Chester worked as a farmer his entire life, and proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Chester married Alice Rose Kolodziej on January 10, 1949.
Chester is survived by his loving wife of over 62 years, Alice Rose Kolodziej Kopecki; his beautiful children, Chester Kopecki Jr. and wife Patricia of McCoy, Dale Kopecki of Kosciusko, John Kopecki and wife Wendy of Kosciusko, and Mary Fjetland and husband Randy of Buda; his ten grandchildren; his six great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law, Agnes Kolodziej of San Antonio, and Elizabeth Kopecki of Panna Maria; and numerous nieces and nephews. Chester was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Sofia Kopecki; his seven brothers; and his three sisters.
Visitation began at 5:00 P.M. Monday, and a rosary was recited at 7:00 P.M. Monday, June 6, 2011, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Kosciusko, Texas. The Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Kosciusko, officiated by Father Andrzej Waszczenko. Interment followed at St. Ann Cemetery in Kosciusko. Serving as pallbearers were German Kopecki, Otto Kopecki, Aaron Kopecki, Ben Kotara, Wilbert Felux, and Ernest Kolodziej.
