Death claimed Miss Mathilda (Tillie) Hollas at noon Saturday, July 12, just 17 days after the demise of her 93-year-old father, whom she had taken care of the past eight years.

Miss Hollas, who was 67, had recently spent two months in the hospital and had been convalescing at home the past month.  Although she was in poor health, her death came unexpectedly.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Hubbard Funeral Home and St. Michael's Catholic Church with Rev. Oswald Kahlich officiating.  Burial  was in St. Michael's Cemetery.

Born in the Sedan community near Weimar, she was the daughter of Rudolph and Julia Skrobanek Hollas.  Back in the 1930s she was employed as housekeeper at San Jacinto Hotel here.  Then for many years she owned and operated an alteration shop at College Station.  Selling that business, she moved to Houston, where she worked for the J. C. Penny Co. for five years, as a seamstress.  In 1961 she moved back here to take care of her aged parents.

Miss Hollas was a member of St. Michael's Church, St. Ann's Society, and the KJZT of Bryan.

Surviving her are five brothers, Otto and Henry of Weimar, Adolf of Eagle Lake, Reinhardt of Frisco and Richard of Bryan; and one foster sister, Mrs. Lydia White of San Antonio.
