      Deceased Name: John Adamek

      "King" John Adamek passed away January 27, 2006, at the age of 82. He was born on March 16, 1923 to John and Margaret Adamek and was raised in Baytown.

      John was a certified welder and pipe fitter and worked in Kuwait and Puerto La Cruz building oil refineries and also in Alaska building pipe lines. He was a member of the Pipe Fitters Local 211. He had John's Air Conditioning for 35 years. If any of his customers were in the hospital, he would send an orchid to the ladies and a rose to the men. Later in life, for a period of 18 years, he owned and operated King John's Palace, a restaurant and club.

      John was a member of Knights of Phythians which sponsored a home for children in Weatherford, Texas. Every Labor Day, for 33 years, he took seafood to cook a meal for the children and staff. At Christmas, he took a carload of toys to the children. In a period of three years, he air conditioned every building of the home. John was a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church.

      John was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one brother. He is survived by his wife, Loyce, daughters, Debbie Barber and Linda Crowe, one granddaughter, and two great grandchildren. Stepchildren are Sandra Jones, Jerry Kemplay, Peggy Cervenka, five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

      Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at Crespo and Jirrels Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held Monday at Cedarcrest Cemetery with Rev. Mike Proctor, minister of St. Mark's United Methodist Church officiating. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Epperson, Kevin Jones, Keith Kemplay, Royce Phillips, Don Woods, and Kurt Zinsmeyer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John's memory to Faith Community Hospice 4721 Garth Road, Suite H, Baytown, TX 77521.
