      Deceased Name: RICHARD "RICK" BARTEK

      EL CAMPO - Richard H. "Rick" Bartek, age 61, of El Campo, died on April 7, 2009. He was the third of eight children of Ludvik J. and Julia Rucka Bartek and was born on Sept. 13, 1947 in El Campo. He attended St. Philip School and graduated from El Campo High School in 1966.

      Rick served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 14, 1967 through July 28, 1969 and held the rank of specialist four. He was very proud to have served his county and being a Vietnam veteran.

      Rick married Lillian Margaret Marek on June 27, 1971 and they raised three children. He was employed by Multi-Fab and previously was a sheet metal foreman for El Campo Sheet Metal. He had a very meticulous mind for metal work and was admired by his piers for his talent. Rick was an avid outdoorsman and loved to deer hunt and fish at the bay. He was proud to pass down his love for the outdoors to his children and grandchildren and spending time with them at deer camp and vacationing at Indianola.

      Rick was a dedicated husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. His family is going to miss their Paw Paw Rick.

      He is survived by his mother, Julia Bartek of El Campo; wife, Lillian Bartek of El Campo; daughters, Dawn Bartek of El Campo, Penny Anderson and husband Bryan of Sealy; son, Richie Bartek and wife Melissa of San Antonio; grandchildren, Trinity and Tate Anderson of Sealy, Madelyn and Grayson Bartek of San Antonio; brothers, L.J. Bartek Jr. and Tommy Bartek of El Campo; and sisters, Judy Venglar and husband Bob of New Taiton, Rita Krpec of El Campo, Mary Kay Socha and husband Glenn of Corpus Christi, and Theresa Harton and husband Kermit of El Campo.

      He was preceded in death by his father, Ludvik Bartek; brother, Joseph Bartek; brother-in-law, Jim Krpec Sr.; and nephew, Jim Krpec Jr.

      Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. today, with a parish rosary to be recited at 7 p.m., at Triska Funeral Home. The Liturgy of the Word Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Janak officiating. Burial with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post 251 will follow at St. John's Cemetery in New Taiton.

      Pallbearers are Wade Venglar, Billy Venglar, Trey Harton, Kyle Harton, Joey Krpec, Trent Socha, Paul Faegan, and Raymond Mach.

      Honorary pallbearers are Michael Faegan and employees of Multi-Fab and El Campo Sheet Metal.

      Memorials in memory of Rick Bartek may be made to the St. Philip School General Fund, St. Philip School Endowment Fund, or to the donor's choice.
