      Funeral services for Esther Zoch, 81 of Serbin, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas with Rev. John Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 7:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.

       

      Mrs. Zoch passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at the Medstar Care Center in Giddings.

       

      Esther Irene Becker Zoch was born on September 3, 1929 in Serbin, Texas to Otto Bernhard & Hulda Lydia (Bohot) Becker. She was baptized on September 8, 1929 and was confirmed on April 18, 1943 both at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin by Rev. Herman Schmidt. Her confirmation verse was Matthew 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Esther was united in marriage to Paul Gerhard Zoch on June 8, 1947 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin by Rev. Herman Schmidt. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Carolyn, Ralph, Larry & Linda.

       

      Esther and Paul owned and operated Zoch's Laundry in Giddings for 23 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin where she was a member of the LWML and the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 276 Ladies Auxiliary in Giddings and enjoyed sewing, fishing, gardening, baking and traveling.

       

      Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Otto & Hulda Becker; two sons-in-law, Royce Noack and Randy Meyer Sr.; granddaughter, Jennifer Meyer; two great grandsons, Blake Zoch and Frederick Fisher Jr.; three brothers, Rubin Becker, Edmund Becker and Fred "Fritz" Becker and two sisters, Adele Becker and Ruth Herzog.

       

      She is survived by her husband of sixty three years, Paul Zoch of Serbin; four children, Carolyn Noack of Northrup, Ralph & Nancy Zoch of Giddings, Larry & Patricia Zoch of Fayetteville, NC and Linda Meyer of Giddings; eleven grandchildren, Connie & Chris Becker of Serbin, Tracy & Gary Oltmann of Northrup, Todd & Hannah Zoch of Blue, Shelley Zoch and her friend, Derek Denham of Houston, Brandon & Gretchen Zoch of Murphysboro, NC, Bryce & Heather Zoch of Fayetteville, NC, Nicholas Zoch of Fayetteville, NC, Cathlyn & Shawn Foraker of Eastover, NC, Rose & Philip Tharp of Serbin, Randy Meyer Jr. and his friend, Marilyn Bage of Serbin and Stacy Meyer of Giddings; fifteen great grandchildren, Mason Becker & Carson Becker both of Serbin, Tara Oltmann & Chase Oltmann both of Northrup, Peyton Zoch & Hunter Zoch both of Blue, Courtland Tharp & Libbi Tharp both of Serbin, Reagan Zoch & Justice Zoch both of Murphysboro, NC, Dakota Zoch, Kendal Zoch & Landon Zoch all of Fayetteville, NC and Bentley Foraker of Eastover, NC; brother, Otto Jr. & Janice Becker of Serbin; two sisters, Amanda Hugo of Brenham and Bernice & Alfred Boriack of Lincoln; two sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Becker of Serbin and Lorine Zoch of Houston; brother-in-law, Gus Zoch of Warda as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

       

      Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Zoch, Bryce Zoch, Nicholas Zoch, Todd Zoch, Randy Meyer Jr., Chris Becker, Gary Oltmann and Philip Tharp.

       

      Memorials may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Restoration Fund or the charity of one's choice.
