      Eugene D. Marcaurele, 74, of El Campo, died Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2007.
       
      He was born Dec. 20, 1932 in Blessing to Louis and Viola Crowder Marcaurele.

      He was a retired district manager in the oil field services. He served in the U.S. Navy, was a member of American Legion Post 251 and St. John's Catholic Church.

      He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Josie Cada Marcaurele of El Campo; daughters, Roxann Smith and husband Dennis of El Campo, Tanya Bunge and husband Jay of El Campo and Lori Heard and husband Jay of Louise; son, David Marcaurele and wife Yvonne of El Campo; grandchildren, Duane Smith and wife Becky, Nicole Brady, Derek Smith, Megan Marcaurele and fiance Toby Riha, Jon Marcaurele, Gerard Marcaurele, Luc Marcaurele, Brianna Bunge, Bethany Bunge, Blair Bunge and Shelby Heard; great-grandchildren, Lane Brady, Dayne Smith and Brenna Smith.
       
      He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Eugene Marcaurele Jr., brothers, Ivan, Louis Jr., Bill, Aaron and Dewey Marcaurele; sisters, Dorothy Miller, Leonie Pogue, Irene Dawson and Gracie Townsend.
       
      A Wake service was held Friday, Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. at Triska Funeral Home.

      Funeral services will be today, Saturday, Feb. 3 at 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in New Taiton with the Rev. Joe Vrana officiating and assisted by Deacon Edward Wendel. Burial will follow at the Holy Cross Memorial Park in El Campo.
       
      Pallbearers are Dennis Smith, Duane Smith, Derek Smith, Jon Marcaurele, Gerard Marcaurele and Alvin Cada.
       
      Honorary pallbearers are the staff of Avalon Place in Wharton.

      Memorials in memory of Eugene Marcaurele may be made to St. John's Church, 1843 CR 469, El Campo, TX 77437.
