Deceased Name: GEORGIA FRANCIS DLOUHY SMITHGeorgia Francis Dlouhy Smith died Aug. 3, 2002, at Silverado Senior Living - Cypresswood in Houston, Texas. She was 89 years old at the time of her transition. Georgia was born in Crosby, Texas, on Feb. 22, 1913, to Francis and Adolph Dlouthy. She and her two brothers, Alvin and Herbert, attended school in Crosby. In 1935, she met Ivy Smith and they married on Feb. 20, 1937. Georgia and Ivy lived and raised their two sons, Barry and Gailand, in Baytown. Georgia was a room mother in the Cedar Bayou Schools and an active member of the PTA. The family was also very active at Cedar Bayou Methodist Church. Georgia was a Sunday school teacher, member of XYZ, and thrift shop worker among the many church related activities in which she participated. Throughout the years, much of her spare time was spent attending athletic events involving her husband and sons. She was an outstanding cook and an avid gardener whose family and church were the cornerstone of her life. As Ivy often said, he "married the best cook in town, so why go out to dinner?"Georgia was preceded in death by Ivy Smith, her husband for 60 years, and her two brothers.She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law: Barry and Lynn of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Gailand and Nell of Houston; Daughter-in-law, Linda Smith of Houston; three granddaughters Stephanie Stadler of Houston, Ashley Eckert of Tampa, Fla., and Whitney Smith of Scottsdale; three great-grandchildren: Katherine and Jackson Stadler of Scottsdale and Austin Eckert of Tampa; beloved caregivers Stanley and Gloria Wilson; nephews, nieces and many, many friends.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Today Aug. 5, 2002, at Earthman Funeral Home 3919 Garth Rd., Baytown, Texas. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002, at Cedar Bayou Methodist Church 2714 Ferry Rd., Baytown, Texas, with Rev. Roddy Bland officiating. Interment will follow at Earthman Memory Gardens 8624 Garth Rd., Baytown. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Cedar Bayou United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.Arrangements are under the direction of Earthman Funeral Directors, 3919 Garth Rd., Baytown, Texas 77521.
