John Thomas Hanzelka, 60, of Lampasas
died Aug. 17, 2005, at Cross County Care Center in Brownwood.
There will be no service. The body will be cremated.
Mr. Hanzelka had
lived in Lampasas since 1988 after his retirement from the U.S. Army after more
than 20 years of service.
He was a Cobra helicopter pilot in Germany, Korea and Vietnam.
Mr. Hanzelka married
Pilar Torres on May 26, 1977, in Copperas Cove.
He was a Baptist and a member of the Kempner VFW.
His hobbies included motorcycle riding, gunsmithing and golf.
Survivors include his wife of Lampasas; four sons, John Todd Hanzelka and James Craig Hanzelka, both of Houston,
Victor William Ward, of Alaska, and John Thomas Hanzelka II, of Lampasas;
one daughter, Tomi Kiele, of North Dakota; a sister, Virginia Ezell, of Marble
Falls; seven grandchildren; and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Delores Raney.
The family requested memorials be made to the American Diabetes
Arrangements by Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Directors of Lampasas.
