obit: Leroy Albert Jones, Sr. - mom Haidusek
He passed from this life on December 23, 2005 at the age of 73 years and 14 days. He was a member of the Robison Street Church of Christ.
Most of his childhood was spent in the Francitas area. He loved football and was on the High School teams at LaWard, Lolita and Yoakum. He graduated from Yoakum High School after his family moved to that area.
After graduation, he returned to Ganado and worked as a bulldozer operator in the oil and gas industry. He established Jones Bulldozer Service and was a perfectionist in his work. He took pride in all his jobs, whether great or small. He thought there was only one way to do something, the right way, the "Bubba Jones" way!
He loved life and lived it to the fullest. In his younger days, he was an avid motorcyclist. He built a pond at his home outside of Ganado and raised catfish. He loved to see those fish come to the top of the water when he threw out food. He was always kind and generous and ready to help anyone in their time of need.
His later years were spent at Southbrooke Manor Nursing Home after he suffered several strokes. He considered the Staff his Family.
He is survived by his son, Leroy Albert "Roy" Jones, Jr. of Inez, two step-daughters, Leah Boggs of Baytown and Valerie Hanlon of Corpus Christi and one step-son, David Benard of Victoria. He is also survived by three sisters, Helen McKey, Mildred Tipton and Frankie Gerhard of Edna, one brother, Cecil Jones of Center. Also numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved greatly and his former wife, Becky Harter. Seven beloved grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Raymond Lee Jones.
