SISTER MARCIA HAVLAK

SAN ANTONIO — Sister Marcia Havlak, 95, a Sister of Divine Providence, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 22, 2007.
She was born near Lowake, Texas, on Nov. 4, 1911, and became a Sister of Divine Providence at 19 years of age. Sister Marcia began her ministerial life at St. Joseph’s School in Norman, Okla., in 1931.
In the 62 years that followed, she taught primary and high school grades in various schools throughout Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas. She also taught CCD classes in Olfen, Eola, Eden and Menard, Texas, for many summers. In 1993, Sister Marcia retired to Our Lady of the Lake Convent Center.
She is survived by her sister, Emily Havlak; three brothers, Ludwig, Philip and Joe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Josephine and August Havlak; her brother, Felix; and an infant brother.
The rosary will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, and the wake is at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25. All services will be in Annunciation Chapel at Our Lady of the Lake Convent Center. Arrangements are by Angelus Funeral Home.
