      Houston Chronicle (TX) - September 15, 2004

      Deceased Name: Erna Hruska O'Connor

      TX United States

ERNA HRUSKA O'CONNOR, 93, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2004. Her beautiful yard was admired by all those who passed by, and "yes" she cut her own grass up to the age of 92. Erna served as Grand Matron of the Eastern Star Masonic Lodge in the Oak Forest area and was a member of the Oak's Christian Church. She was an avid bowler until she retired in the 1990's. Erna taught herself to play the organ and paint when she was 60 years old. She was always into something new and never grew "old". One of the greatest memories is that Erna sold the very first ticket for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in 1958.

She was preceded in death by husband, Joseph T. O'Connor, her three brothers, two sisters and two Sons, Glen Joe Gooden and Wilbur Clyde Gooden. Survivors include granddaughter, Brenda Ginsberg and her husband, Ted; grandson, Jeff Gooden, and his wife, Janine; great-grandchildren, Jana, Nolan and Erin Ginsberg, Michael and Jenna Gooden Brett, Kathy and Beth Gooden; former daughter-in-laws, Jan Gooden and Connie Gooden . She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and a host of loving friends.

The family will receive friends after 9:30 a.m. Friday, September 17, 2004 followed by funeral services at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of the Angels of Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery with Rev. J. David Hargrave officiating. Interment to follow in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. The family requests donations be made to Oaks Christian Church, 1216 Bethlehem St., Houston, TX
