Monday night Mrs. Frances Hudec (nee Myska), aged
about 92 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frances Rerich, near
town. The funeral took place Tuesday afternoon at St. Michael's
Cemetery. Rev. Jos. Szymanski officiating in the presence of a large
assemblage of mourning relatives and friends.
Mrs. Hudec was born in Moravia, Europe, in 1846,
and came, with her husband, the late Vincent Hudec, to this country, locating in
the Dubina section in 1880. Three years later the family moved to the
Osage section, where the deceased lived up to the time of her death. Her
husband preceded her in death by about thirty-five years.
She is survived by four sons and five
daughters. Two sons, Joe and Henry, live in the Wildwood district; Richard
lives in Fort Worth; Jim in Columbus; two sons, Steve and Alois, are dead.
Two daughters, Mrs. Frances Rerich and Miss Mary Hudec, live in the Weimar
section; Mrs. Anna Skutca, lives in Columbus; and Mrs. Josephine Weiz and Miss
Flora Hudec are in Fort Worth.
Mrs. Hudec lived a long and useful life. She
was one of the pioneer settlers of this section and doubtless in early life
endured many hardships. She was a good, christian woman, a devoted wife
and mother, a sincere, good friend throughout her entire life, and in her
passing all realize that in deed and truth, a good woman has passed from among
