      Elsie Lee Janik

Elsie Lee Janik passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2006, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas, at the age of 81.

Elsie was born November 29, 1924, to Richard and Pauline Mielsch in East Bernard, Texas. She married Henry Jim Janik on April 16, 1945, and he preceded her in death in October 2001.

Together, Henry and Elsie raised a very close family of four children, Jimmie Alan Janik (Anne) of Sunrise, Florida, Janet Sue Ferguson (John) of Houston, Texas, Mary Kay Null (Marty) of Lake Jackson, Texas, and Frances Ann Vaughn (Arnold) of Clute, Texas. They were extra proud of their seven grandchildren, Derik Janik, Leana Janik, John Henry Ferguson (Krista), Lacey Schoppe (Jeff), Mike Null, Mark Vaughn (Lindsey) and Russell Vaughn; and their three great-grandchildren, Alexis Ferguson, Kayla Ferguson and Matthew Vaughn.

Elsie retired in the early 1980s from Weingarten's, where she was the deli-manager. She currently held the position of secretary for the KJZT, was actively involved with the weekly Adoration Chapel Holy Hour at St. Michael's Catholic Church and was a volunteer member of the Pink Ladies of Brazosport Regional Health System.

She belonged to a monthly bunco group called the "Bunco Bunch" and also was involved with two ladies' domino groups, all of which included many of her closest friends who were all very special to her. Another pastime she enjoyed very much was playing bingo.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel with a 7:30 p.m. Rosary service.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Monsignor Leo Wleczyk officiating. Graveside services will follow at Restwood Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Norbert Janik, Robert Janik, James Janik, August John Janik, Eddie Joe Kramr and Richard Startz.

Honorary pallbearers are Richard Janik, Gilbert Janik, Larry Janik and Gilbert Walzel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
