      HITCHCOCK -- Effie Lucille Janak, 74, of Hitchcock, Texas passed away Wednesday December 30, 1998, at St. Luke's Hospital in Houston, Texas.
       
      A funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 4, 1999, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Hitchcock, Texas with Father Peter Ferguson, officiating.  Burial will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas.
       
      A vigil service will be 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 1999, in the Chapel of the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, Texas with Sister Mary Anne Hollmann, officiating.  Friends may visit at the funeral home after 4:00 p.m.  Mrs. Janak was born July 22, 1924 in Lovelady, Texas.
       
      She was a resident of Hitchcock for 51 years and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.  Mrs. Janak was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Elbert Janak.  She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Walter Edwin and Janet Janak of Bayou Vista, Texas, Jimmie D. and Jamie Janak of Placitas, New Mexico, Kenneth L. and Cindy Janak of Santa Fe, Texas; eight grandchildren and spouses, Charlyn and Randy Leyhe, Terry Janak, Laura and Chris Adams, Amber and Clyde Votaw, Dustin Janak, Ryan Janak, Hannah Janak and Nathan Janak, two nieces and spouses Marie and Bobby Lane, June and Paul Thomas; and longtime friend, Cecil Dodson; and numerous great-grandchildren, niece and nephews.
