      HALLETTSVILLE -- Mrs. John Janak, 83, of Sweet Home, died at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday in a Yoakum hospital.
      Mrs. Janak was born April 20, 1905 in Lavaca County and was a member of the KJZT Society and American Legion Auxiliary.
      Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Kubena Funeral Home Chapel and at 9:30 a.m. from the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Sweet Home with the Rev. Vaclav Dily officiating.  Burial will follow in the Sweet Home Catholic Cemetery.
      Survivors include her husband, one son, Ernest Janak of Houston; two daughters, Mrs. Leslie Brenek of Sweet Home and Mrs. Freddie Jansky of Hallettsville; six brothers, Alois Herman of Shiner, Frank Herman of Wied, Bohumil Herman of Sweet Home, Ernest and Laddie Herman of Houston and Stanley Herman of St. Louis, Mo., and nine grandchildren.
      Rosary was recited at the funeral home Saturday by the KJZT Society and the parish.
