      Waco Tribune-Herald (TX) - April 4, 2009

      Deceased Name: Kocian, Ethel

      Ethel Lee Kocian

Ethel Lee Kocian of Waco, passed away Monday, March 30, 2009. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 6, at St. Louis Catholic Church with Msgr. Mark Deering as celebrant. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Rosary will begin at 6 p.m. with visitation to follow Sunday, April 5, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with Father David Liebham officiating.

Ethel was born Nov. 28, 1926, in Floydada, Texas, to Frank Reznicek and Frances Zaicek Reznicek. The family moved to West during Ethel's early teen years, and she graduated from West High School in 1944. She married William August Kocian on Nov. 17, 1947, and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage until Bill's death in 2000. Ethel spent many years working as a seamstress at J.M. Wood Mfg. Co., and Big J. Apparel, until her retirement. She was a faithful member of St. Louis Catholic Church.

A loving wife and mother, Ethel's life was always focused on her family. Her greatest joy in life was undoubtedly her three grandchildren, for whom she happily cooked, baked, and sewed throughout the years. Their time spent with Nanny, as well as her kolaches, Sunday lunches, and after-school snacks, will always be remembered lovingly by Bobby, Cathy and Amy. She enjoyed being involved in their lives, attending activities and providing unending support. Ethel's family was everything to her.

Ethel was preceded in death by her husband; her brothers, F.J. and George Reznicek; sisters-in-law, Della Reznicek and Albina Pavelka; and brothers-in-law, John Pavelka, Rudolph Bazant and Herman Lander.

She is survived by daughter, Kay Sheehy and her husband, Bob of Waco; grandchildren, Bobby Sheehy and wife, Scotti of Fort Worth, Cathy Sheehy of Arlington, and Amy Sheehy of Waco; sisters-in-law, Sophie Bazant, Martha Lander and Lillie Laubert and husband, Ollie, all of West; and several nieces, nephews and many loving friends.

The family wishes to thank Bluebonnet Home Care and Hospice for their dedication during this difficult time.

Memorials may be made to Reicher Catholic High School.

The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our "Memorial Guestbook" at www.wilkirsonhatchbailey.com.
