      Deceased Name: MARGARET FRANCES MALCHAR KORENEK

      Margaret Frances Malchar Korenek, 85, of Houston, passed away on March 28, 2003.

      She was born January 27, 1918 to Joseph and Albina Mikulenka Malchar in Crosby.

      She was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings: brothers, Alphonse, Leon, Rudy and Joseph Malchar; and sisters, Mary Malchar, Julia Burianek, Rose Kucera, Helen Hinton and Irene Muzny.

      She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Victor J. Korenek Sr., and six children: Patricia and Anthony Caporina, of Washington, Texas; Katherine and Bill Smith of Monroe City, Mo.; Victor Jr. and Gere Deane Korenek of Pasadena, Texas; Joseph and Dolly Korenek of Houston; Mary and Beck Knox of Coleman, Texas; and Julie and Gary Don Hopkins, of Kingsville, Texas.

      She is also survived by her grandchildren: Joseph, Charles and Paul Caporina; Sam, Ben and Leo Smith; Margie Smith Wilcoxin, Mary Smith Sims, Sally Smith Lemongelli, Amy Korenek Licciardi, Robert V. Korenek, Laura Korenek Sullivan, Joseph L. Korenek Jr., Sharon Korenek Delorenzo, Susan Korenek Whaley, Andrew, Michael and Mark Knox; Jennifer Knox Norman, Pam and Rose Lefner; and Tricia Lefner Brownlee; 16 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

      Margaret and Victor lived most of their lives in Baytown where Margaret was active in her church, St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She was a member of the choir, a CCD teacher, an active member of the Legion of Mary, a member of the Parish Council, the Altar Society and a lifetime member of the KJZT.

      Margaret was a homemaker all her life. Prior to moving to an assisted living facility in Houston, Margaret and Victor lived for five years in Coleman, Texas.

      The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, March 31, 2003, at Earthman Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road, Baytown, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m.

      A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1907 Carolina, Baytown.

      Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crosby, Texas. Pallbearers will be the grandsons.

      It is the request of the family that memorials be sent to the Sacred Heart Cemetery Fund, c/o Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 915 Runneburg Lane, Crosby, Texas 77532.
