      There are some very good videos at the FamilySearch website that explain how to read the German script and another video that is a lesson in reading the records that are written in Latin.
       
       
      Scroll down to the Reading Handwritten Records Series and you will see three videos for the German Lessons and a little farther down is the Latin Lesson.

        Thank you so much for this link.  I just got around to viewing the videos.  They were great.  Also, there are many handouts on the videos that should help with reading the old records.
         
        If you haven't had a chance to go to this link, it would be worth your time to do so.
