1913 - 2010
Lucille Tucker Labaj, 97, passed away January 20, 2010. She was born to
Marcell and Mattie Tucker in Yoakum, Texas, on January 8, 1913. As a young
woman, Lucille entered and graduated from Brackenridge School of Nursing. She
soon entered the United States Navy and devoted much of her life serving as a
United States Naval Nurse. Lucille retired, achieving the rank of Lieutenant
Commander. She was an active member of the Navy Nurse Corps Association and
Bethany United Methodist Church. Lucille was later employed as an Inspector for
the State of Texas, examining Hospitals and Nursing Homes to ensure safety. She
retired after 10 years of service.
Lucille is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Adolf Labaj and her
Lucille is survived by her stepdaughter, Dorothy Daniels; step- son,
Henry A. Labaj and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 24, 2010, from 3:00 to 5:00
p.m., at the funeral home. Graveside Services will follow on Monday, January 25,
2010, 10:00 a.m., at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.
