      TEXAS CITY -- Jerome George Labay Jr., 58, of Alvin, brother of A.J. Labay, superintendent of Dickinson schools, died Sunday in Galveston County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
       
      Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church in Alvin, the Rev. Jerome Meagher officiating.  Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Pearland.
       
      Labay lived in Alvin for 11 years and was retired from Texas Pipeline Co.  He was a member of the Catholic Church.
       
      Labay lived at 2107 So. Gordon in Alvin.
       
      Survivors besides his brother in Dickinson include his wife, Mrs. Emma Labay of Alvin, two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Decker of Texas City and Mrs. Billy Hill of Taft; two sons, Edward Labay of Houston and Gilbert Labay of Alvin; three other brothers, John L. Labay of Columbus, Allen F. Labay of Cypress and Raymond Labay of Naugatuck, Conn.; four sisters, Mrs. Gus Smaistrla of Baytown, Mrs. Fred Krpec of El Campo, Mrs. George Daniel of Baytown and Mrs. Clinton Schulze of Deer Park; and two grandchildren.
