SULPHUR SPRINGS - Howard F. Lacek, 78, of Sulphur
Springs died at 7:49 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 1997, at Hopkins County Memorial
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at
Tapp Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Clyde Warner officiating. Burial
will be at City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m.
Monday at the funeral home.
He was born Oct. 9, 1918, in Dallas, to William
Frank and Martha Ina Lueck Lacek. He married Tempie Dean Dec. 20, 1948, in
Dallas. He attended Texas A&M University and was a veteran of World
War II, serving in the Navy. He worked with the Corps of Engineers for
many years and later worked in the cattle business. he was a member of the
Change of Life Church.
Surviving are a son, Mark Lacek of Sulphur Springs;
a daughter, Martha Gassman of Tulsa, Oka.; a step-daughter, Jane Daniels of
Flower Mount; two grandchildren, Joshua Gassman of Missouri and Charity Gassman
of Tulsa; two step-grandchildren, Heath Daniels and Erin Martin of Lewisville;
and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a
sister, Frances Lacek, and a grandson, Micah Gassman.
Pallbearers will be Robert Butcher, George Scott,
Joshua Gassman, Roy Herman Jr., Camp Herman and Frank Pope. Honorary
bearers will be Dr. Kerly, Dr. Bonchak, Paul Herman and Charles
