      GRAND PRAIRIE - Betty Jo Mikus went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, in Arlington after a long illness.

      Funeral: 2 p.m. Wednesday in Wade Family Funeral Home Chapel, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, with Mr. James Curry and Mr. Perry Cothan officiating. Burial: Grand Prairie Memorial Gardens, Grand Prairie. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wade Family Funeral Home.

      Betty lived in Grand Prairie most of her life and attended Grand Prairie High School, where she was a majorette. She loved to paint, make latch-hook rugs and be with her children and grandchildren. She was a former member of the Grand Prairie Woman's Club and the Republican Women's Association. Betty was one of the first to teach Bible correspondence courses in the jail ministry at Burbank Gardens Church of Christ in Grand Prairie. E.J. and Betty were high school sweethearts and married July 21, 1947, and were married 58 years. Their favorite song was "Sentimental Journey," and they danced to it many times. Betty and E.J. are members of Turnpike Church of Christ in Grand Prairie.

      She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Ruby Greene, and her brother, Johnny Greene.

      Survivors: Her devoted and loving husband, E.J. Mikus; daughters, Karen Moore and husband, Stan, of Arlington and Linda Mikus of Arlington; son, Bobby Mikus and wife, Kathy, of Grand Prairie; grandchildren, Tina Williams and husband, Robert, Cynthia Berman and husband, David, Jayson Mikus and wife, Lauren, Lacey Mikus and William Moore; and great-grandchildren, Lauren and Brenna Williams and Micah, Joseph, Daniel, Anna, Mary and Chloe Berman.
