      Deceased Name: Charlene Ann West Raska

      Charlene Ann West Raska, born January 12, 1934, in Victoria, Texas, died March 13, 2009. She was voted Most Friendly by her 1952 graduating class at Patti Welder High School. She married the late Joseph Glenn Raska in 1953 in Victoria, Texas and in 1958 they moved to Austin, Texas where they resided for 28 years before moving to High Grove. Charlene took great pride in helping put her husband through school at the University of Texas at Austin. She retired from the Texas Education Agency after over 30 years of service. In her spare time she enjoyed outdoor activities with her family, antique shopping, watching college sports, handwork and loved fashion and clothing. She was a long time member of the Bastrop Church of Christ and enjoyed attending the ladies fellowship activities. In later years she found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren.

      She was survived by her son, Bryan Raska of Rockport, Texas and wife Cathy; daughter, Gayle Raska Sword of High Grove, Texas and husband Tony; grandchildren, Amanda Raska Thorin of Houston, Texas and husband Rodney, Lysa Raska Brown of Georgetown, Texas and husband Mike, Travis Sword of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Amy Lynn Sword of High Grove, Texas; sister, Helen West Shotts of Conroe, Texas; sister, Judy West Palmer of Leander, Texas and husband Jim; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Glenn Raska and sister Mildred West Shotts.

      There will be a visitation on Sunday, March 15, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Marrs-Jones- Newby F. H. in Bastrop, Texas. The funeral service will be held at The Bastrop Church of Christ on Monday, March 16, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with the interment following at High Grove Cemetery
