      Funeral services for George Raymond Schattel, 37, of 619 Ave. H., Galveston, who was found dead Tuesday morning by a neighbor , will be held at 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Malloy & Son Funeral Home followed by Mass at 9:30 in Sacred heart Catholic Church.  Burial will be in the family plot at East Bernard.
       
      The longshoreman, who had not been seen since Sunday, was found hanged in his garage.  Justice Peace James L. McKenna ruled suicide as cause of death.
       
      Mr. Schattel was born Feb. 11, 1928, in Wharton.  He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict.  He served in the Navy during WW II, from 1943 to 1946, and entered the U.S. Army in 1947, spending 14 months in Korea.  He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 48.
       
      He was given a medical release from the Army in 1952 due to a nervous condition.
       
      Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Rita Diane Schattel and Susan Schattel; his mother, Mrs. Roy Schmidt; a sister, Mrs. Lidia Marie Martisek; and two brothers, William Schattel and Donald Schattel, all of Galveston.
       
      Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
