      GALVESTON -- Clara Elizabeth Schmidt, 80, a homemaker, died Saturday at her residence.
       
      Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Church in Galveston, the Rev. Tim Bucek officiating.  Burial will follow at Old City Cemetery in Galveston, under direction of Malloy & Son Funeral Home of Galveston.
       
      A rosary will be recited tonight at 7 at the funeral home.
       
      Born Dec. 9, 1904 in Wallis, Mrs. Schmidt was a member of the ladies auxiliary of VFW Post 880 in Galveston.
       
      Survivors include her husband, Roy F. Schmidt of Galveston; two sons, W. J. Schattel Jr. of Hitchcock and Donald L. Schattel of Galveston; two sisters, Lessie Wade of North Fork, Va. and Dorothy Grisson of Houston; a brother, Kenneth Griggeer of Fairchild, Texas; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
       
      Mrs. Schmidt's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
