SNOOK Services for Jerry E. Slovacek, 94, of Snook are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Snook Brethren Church in Snook. The Rev. Joseph Polacek and Rev. Henry Beseda will officiate. Burial will be in Snook Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday with the family present and from 9 a.m. Thursday until noon at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville.
Mr. Slovacek died Tuesday in a Bryan hospital.
He was born in Snook. He was a farmer and rancher and served as the barber in the Snook area for more than 45 years.He was a member of the Snook Brethren Church and S.P.J.S.T. Lodge #9 in Snook. He was awarded the Outstanding Senior Citizen Award of Burleson County in 1996.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Slovacek.
Survivors include his two daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Jimmy Riddle of Snook, and Alice and Jerry Towne of Snook; his sisters, Minnie Petruy of Georgetown, Texas, Libbie Collins of Snook and Betty Bravanec of Houston; and one grandson.
